Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association was invited by the Ministry of Education, Science & Technological Research Sarawak (MESTR) to give talk & conduct activities during their Parental & Community Engagement Program yesterday. The program was a collboration between MESTR, Song District Office & Pejabat Pendidikan Song.
The program was held at Rumah Austin Ekau in Nanga Sipan, Song and officiated by the Minister of Education, Science & Technological Research Sarawak, YB Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong.
The purpose of the program was to raise awareness amongst the longhouse folk that parents and the community play a crucial role in their children’s education. Folks from a total of 8 longhouses took part in the program namely Rh Austin Ekau, Rh Kancing, Rh Sudin, Rh Kana Anak Antalai, Rh Gaing, Rh Nyulang, Rh Aut & Rh Sumbang.
DR. Florianna Lendai Michael, Vice-President of SDGA gave a talk to secondary students at SMK Katibas that was focused on how they can better excel in their studies by having the right attitude & mentally as well as the various educational pathways they can follow after SPM.
Meanwhile, Alicia Augustine (Deputy Secretary-General of SDGA) conducted an activity with the primary school children at Rumah Austin Ekau to encourage them to share their aspirations and the future ambitions and not be afraid to dream big.
SDGA Exco member, Mdm. Hazelynn Rimbar, who is also the Principal Assistant Secretary for STEM & English Section under MESTR, was also present and played a major role in organizing the program and ensuring it was conducted successfully.
