The Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA) successfully hosted its landmark assembly, Charting a 2030 Roadmap, on 9 November 2024 at TEGAS Digital Village, Kuching. This full-day event gathered Dayak graduates, community leaders, educators, and youth advocates to shape a comprehensive strategy for the community’s development leading up to 2030.

The assembly began with opening remarks by SDGA President Dr Florianna Lendai Michael, followed by the official launch of the SDGA Research Unit, which is a pivotal step in strengthening data-driven initiatives for the community.

Participants then engaged in dynamic forum sessions and workshops addressing key areas such as educational excellence, project management in volunteer initiatives, sustainability, leadership skills, and innovative curriculum development. Highlights included Forum 1 on “Educational Excellence: Building a Foundation for Community Development,” moderated by Mr. Rudy Ujang, and Forum 2 on “Challenges in Volunteerism: Overcoming Obstacles and Building Resilience,” moderated by Mr. Gary Ningkan.

A dedicated focus group discussion in the afternoon offered members an opportunity to explore volunteer project ideas, aligning them with community needs and career aspirations. The sessions culminated in an energetic elevator pitch segment, where participants presented their project concepts, received feedback, and inspired new collaborations.

Throughout the day, the assembly emphasised SDGA’s core objectives, which includes strengthening community development through education, empowering volunteers, enhancing project sustainability, and creating a clear action roadmap aligned with Sarawak’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The event concluded with closing remarks and a call to action, urging members to remain committed to contributing their skills and expertise back to the community. The collaborative spirit and shared vision demonstrated throughout the assembly emphasised SDGA’s dedication to empowering the Dayak community for a resilient, progressive future.

As SDGA moves forward with its 2025 – 2030 roadmap, the association remains steadfast in its mission to nurture leadership, strengthen educational initiatives and build a united network of Dayak professionals ready to make a lasting impact.
