Friday, 3 October 2025

Venue: SMK Sri Aman and SK Melugu

The Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA), as a co-organiser, jointly implemented CelcomDigi’s S.A.F.E Internet Initiative in collaboration with the Association Internationale des Étudiants en Sciences Économiques et Commerciales (AIESEC), promoting online safety and digital responsibility among students across Sarawak.

As part of the initiative, a session on online safety and scam awareness was delivered by SDGA Executive Committee (EXCO) member Melvin Jangga. The session covered practical topics including online ethics, cyberbullying, phishing scams, deepfakes and methods to safeguard personal information when navigating the digital space.

SDGA conducted its sharing sessions at SMK Sri Aman and SK Melugu, while AIESEC volunteers facilitated similar activities at SMK Lingga, SK St. Martin and SK Selepong using CelcomDigi’s official S.A.F.E Internet learning module. The coordinated approach ensured wider outreach and consistent messaging on cyber safety and responsible digital behaviour.

To conclude the outreach programme, Melvin joined the AIESEC delegates for a cultural visit to Kampung Putat, where participants were warmly received by Tuai Rumah Edward and the local community. The visit included an overnight longhouse stay featuring traditional cuisine and Iban cultural performances, offering an enriching intercultural experience.

The initiative highlights the importance of equipping Sarawakian youth with essential digital literacy and cyber safety awareness, while fostering cross-cultural understanding through meaningful community engagement.
