The Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA), as a co-organiser, collaborated with CelcomDigi and the Association Internationale des Étudiants en Sciences Économiques et Commerciales (AIESEC) to conclude the S.A.F.E Internet programme with an engaging Open Day held here, marking the culmination of a statewide digital literacy outreach series.

The Open Day featured a sharing session by the CelcomDigi delegation comprising Ms. Stephanie, Mr. Philip and Ms. Adeline, who highlighted the company’s latest sustainability efforts and community-based initiatives. Ms. Stephanie also introduced the newly launched AI Experience Centre, which showcases innovative case studies demonstrating the practical application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across various sectors.

A panel session titled “Digital Literacy from Different Lenses” brought together perspectives from academia, industry and the community. SDGA Executive Committee (EXCO) member Melvin Jangga joined Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Professor Dr. Jane Labadin, and Head of Sustainability at CelcomDigi, Mr. Philip Ling, for a discussion on online safety, data protection and AI ethics. The session was moderated by Avinnash from AIESEC.

Representing the community perspective, Melvin emphasised the importance of ensuring that rural communities in Sarawak have equitable access to technological advancements, alongside the knowledge and awareness needed to use digital tools ethically and responsibly.

The Open Day marked the official conclusion of the S.A.F.E Internet outreach series, which successfully promoted digital literacy, youth empowerment and responsible technology use among students and communities across Sarawak.
