Date: 13th – 14th September 2025
Venue: Alter Space Gallery & Studio, Miri
The Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA) has successfully concluded its participation at the Indigenous Exchange Festival (IXF) 2025, held from 12 to 14 September at Alter Space Gallery & Studio here, marking a meaningful milestone for the Heritage Handicrafts & Garment Crafting Empowerment programme in Lubok Antu.
Throughout the three-day festival, SDGA showcased the creativity and craftsmanship of programme trainer Madam Angelia David of Carana Enterprise, alongside the works of programme participants Madam Miss Bareng and Madam Dina Muyang. The exhibition highlighted heritage jewellery and garments rooted in Dayak traditions, including the distinctive Kuas Balau fabric and traditional Iban accessories originating from Sri Aman.
Beyond the exhibition, the festival served as a valuable platform for participants to gain real-world exposure to the heritage jewellery and craft market. The experience supported their journey towards cultural entrepreneurship while reinforcing the importance of preserving and celebrating Dayak cultural identity.
In conjunction with the showcase, SDGA also conducted a membership drive during the festival. The association welcomed new members who signed up throughout the event, strengthening its growing network and community engagement.
SDGA expressed its appreciation to visitors who showed strong interest and support over the three days, particularly international guests whose admiration for Dayak craftsmanship reflected the universal appeal of indigenous heritage.
The association also extended its gratitude to the IXF organising team for providing an inclusive and vibrant platform to connect, share and celebrate culture, and looks forward to future opportunities to continue championing heritage-based empowerment initiatives.
