Venue: Rumah Panjang Batu Bebini Baruh
The Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA) continued its efforts to strengthen engagement with rural communities through the Aram Begempuru Outreach Programme, held at Rumah Panjang Batu Bebini Baruh here on Saturday.
Supported by the All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia for Sustainable Development Goals (APPGM-SDG), the programme gathered more than 50 participants from Rumah Panjang Batu Bebini Baruh and Rumah Panjang Batu Bebini Atas for a day of awareness, learning and community-building activities.
The programme began with an awareness session on SDGA, delivered by its President Ts. Rizzo Mungka, who shared the association’s role in connecting professionals and local communities through initiatives centred on empowerment, collaboration and inclusive development.
A Fire Safety Awareness Talk was subsequently conducted by Pegawai Bomba Kanan II (PBK II) Nickson Asean anak Akui from the Betong Fire and Rescue Station. The session covered fire hazards, identification of different types of fires and appropriate emergency response measures, complemented by hands-on demonstrations on the correct use and maintenance of fire extinguishers.
Participants also received a briefing from Tingga anak Manggat of the Sri Aman Social Welfare Department, who explained the various forms of social welfare assistance available, including recent government initiatives aimed at supporting rural communities.
During the dialogue session, Tuai Rumah Roslin Nuja highlighted several community concerns related to welfare aid applications and fire safety measures. These issues were discussed constructively, reinforcing the programme’s role as a platform for two-way engagement between agencies and the community.
The Aram Begempuru Outreach Programme will conclude with a One-Stop Exhibition and Grand Closing Ceremony scheduled to take place on 1 November 2025 at the Lubok Antu Sports Complex.
