Venue: Imperial Hotel Grand Ballroom
The Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA) attended the JCIM Sustainable Development Award (SDA) Grand Award Ceremony 2025 held at the Imperial Hotel Grand Ballroom, joining more than 500 guests from government agencies, the corporate sector, non-governmental organisations, youth networks and international delegates.
The ceremony celebrated impactful projects that advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), highlighting initiatives that translate sustainability commitments into tangible outcomes for communities and the environment.
SDGA was honoured to hear the message of the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, delivered by Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian. In his message, the Premier reaffirmed that sustainability remains a core development strategy for Sarawak under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), and the Sarawak Blueprint on Digital Economy Strategy 2030 (BCDS 2030), while commending organisation that have successfully translated SDGA aspirations into meaningful action.
The event left a strong impression on SDGA members, particularly through the achievements of finalists and award recipients who demonstrated how community-based initiatives can scale through strategic partnerships, data-informed planning and inclusive participations. Since 2017, the JCIM SDA has recognised more than 200 impactful projects nationwide across 17 SDG-aligned categories, including the prestigious Best of the Best Project award for outstanding cross-goal impact.
From SDGA’s perspective, the ceremony reinforced the importance of youth leadership and skills development as key drivers of sustainable progress, alongside strong grassroots collaboration involving communities, agencies and industry players. It also highlighted the value of measurable outcomes that strengthen livelihoods, preserve culture and protect the environment.
SDGA extends its appreciation to JCI Malaysia and JCI Kuching for hosting the meaningful platform and congratulates all award recipients. The association looks forward to exploring future collaborations that connect youth, innovators and communities across Sarawak in advancing sustainable and inclusive development.
