Venue: Rumah Panjang Selindong Ulu, Tr. Rimong
The Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA) on-site team recently embarked on a full-day journey in Lubok Antu, meeting with Tuai Rumah and their communities to lay the groundwork for two impactful, three-month initiatives, which are Aram Begempuru and the Handicraft Empowerment Project.
Through pre-surveys and direct conversations, SDGA listened to the hopes, challenges, and needs of the longhouses. The aim is to connect these communities with the right agencies, educational institutions, and stakeholders, bringing government initiatives, career pathways, lifelong learning opportunities, and civil service access directly to the people.
Aram Begempuru acts as a platform to deliver essential resources, including education, skills training, and personal development programmes designed to uplift entire communities.
Meanwhile, the handicraft Empowerment Project focuses on identifying potential training centres and target longhouses for hands-on upskilling workshops. These workshops will preserve local artistry and cultural heritage while creating pathways to entrepreneurship and sustainable income opportunities.
SDGA expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Lubok Antu community for their warmth and hospitality. This visit marks the beginning of a shared journey to strengthen livelihoods, preserve culture, and create lasting positive change.
Together, we move towards a brighter, more empowered future for our grassroots communities.
