Venue: Dewan Majma’ Tuanku Abdul HalimMu’adzam Shah (Dewan Kompleks Islam Sarawak), Kuching

The President of the Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA), Ts. Rizzo Mungka Rechie, was invited to attend the 11th Convocation Ceremony of Cyberjaya College Kuching, a meaningful occasion celebrating academic achievement and the beginning of a new chapter in the graduates’ journeys.

The ceremony served as a reminder of the transformational role of education in shaping confident and capable individuals, while reinforcing SDGA’s commitment to supporting Dayak graduates as they pursue excellence and build meaningful careers.

Many graduates shared that their time at Cyberjaya College had played a significant role in their personal and professional development, recognising education as a strong foundation for future growth and opportunities.

Reflecting on the Premier of Sarawak’s announcement of the Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES) set to begin in 2026, SDGA views the initiative as a major opportunity not only to widen access to higher education, but also to strengthen the overall journey from classroom to career. The association emphasised that for FTES to achieve its fullest impact, graduates must be supported with clear and structured pathways into the workforce.

In this regard, SDGA continues to champion the enhancement and expansion of programmes such as the Graduate Employment Training Scheme – Workplace Readiness Programme (GETS-WRP), which provide practical job training, industry exposure and employment placement opportunities for Sarawak graduates. Strengthening such initiatives would help ensure that students who benefit from free tertiary education are also equipped with the skills, experience and confidence required to secure meaningful employment.

SDGA remains committed to working closely with the Sarawak Government, educational institutions and industry partners to build stronger support systems that ensure every graduate is not only educated, but also equipped, employable and empowered for the future.
