20 To 21 June 2015

The Dayak Cultural Festival hosted by Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA) in collaboration with Dayak National Congress (DNC) was held from 20 – 21 June 2015.  The inaugural two day event could be seen as a melting pot for all Dayak communities in Borneo.  It was also a platform for these communities to foster resilient relationship with one another through their rich culture and tradition.  Delegates came from Sarawak, West Kalimantan and Sabah.

“It is vital to preserve the identity of the Dayak culture and tradition, which is being threatened by modernisation.  If this is neglected, the identity of the Dayak would be lost over time, ” said SDGA president Dr. Dusit Jaul during a dinner themed “One Dayak One Borneo” at Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Hall on Saturday, 20 June 2015 which was held in conjunction with the festival.

Why Pray for Children?

2 Truths to Remember:

  1. Never underestimate the challenge of parenting

The journey of raising godly kids in an ungodly world is a relentless roller coaster of incredible heights and crushing depths. Joy and sorrow, laughter and tears, fun and frustrations crash like waves on your heart through the events in the lives of children. Fulfillment and fatigue, exhilaration and exhaustion are all part of the process. Just when you think you have a handle on the challenges, your child hits another stage of development and the path is again clouded with fog.
There are no perfect children, no perfect parents, and no perfect parenting situation. Every parent, every child-raising situation is unique.

  2. Never underestimate the power of a praying parent. There is hope! There is a living God who is supremely intelligent and infinitely powerful who already knows and loves you and your children more and better than you ever will. If you learn to cooperate with God in prayer for your children, He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly more than you can ever ask or imagine. Prayer for Your Children – Elmer L. Towns

There is a great joy of seeing our children walking in truth (see 2 John 1:4)
Not only we learned how to pray effectively for our children,  most importantly we got to know about the God we pray to. We have established a personal, loving relationship with Him. In the Old Testament, His name is Jehovah. In the New Testament, His name is Jesus. We have experienced Him intimately and found the Peace that surpass our understanding. Not only we learn to pray for our children,  we know now how to intercede for our loved ones, our leaders, our association, anywhere, anytime and just about everything.
Our goal is to pray more frequently, passionately, scripturally and effectively for our children and loved ones.

19 September 2012 - SDGA Hiking Trip with Friends and Family to Gunung Serapi Summit Trail, Kubah National Park

Date & Day: 29th September 2012, Saturday
Time: 8.00 am
Assembled at Matang Commercial Centre
Hikers : SDGA Women  Committee - Hazelina Samuel, Lucia Samuel, Sylvia Valentine, Angela Henry and Amelia Jimbun

On Saturday morning of 29th September 2012, we, the SDGA Women Committee,  have organized a hiking trip with friends and family to Gunung Serapi Summit Trail at Kubah National Park. We assembled at Matang Commercial Centre and drove up to Kubah National Park at 8.00 am. After the group photo session, we walked up along the tarred road to Gunung Serapi. We made few pit stops and some of the stops were the Frog Ponds, Waterfalls Trail and Rayu Trail. We took time to explore the nature as well as watch sightings of wild animals and plants. We reached the summit of Gunung Serapi of 2600 feet approximately at 11.30 am.  At the summit, we could view Kuching city, Mount Santubong and mountain peaks.  We had picnic lunch and phototaking session at the resting place. At 12.30pm, we descended and left Kubah National Park right after. Even though we were tired, it was amazing trip for us as we learn to appreciate and nature as well as to keep ourselves fit. We look forward to more nature outings in the future and hope that more members would join us.
